5 Reasons why BUSINESS OWNERS shouldn’t lower their prices after they’ve made an initial offer.

How many of us have ever been in a situation where we really wanted to make the purchase but we were NOT totally sold on if we really needed, wanted, or could afford the item in question?
And then, in an instant, the unthinkable happens… “How much can you afford?”the merchant utters.
This causes things to become much more interesting - since on one-end, you’d probably feel as if the merchant were doing you a favor by being willing to bargain; however on the other-hand, a small part of you can’t help but to question the validity of their pricing structure; which is a problem, in and-of itself.
Business Owners, for all intents and purposes, I’ve highlighted when it is acceptable to temporarily lower your prices. (I.e. Promotional offers, Counter-offers and Prelaunch discounts.) May I also add, that hindsight is always 20-20? Therefore, if you have been an offender of what I’m about to outline below, forgive yourself in advanced and GROWBEYOND, despite this common merchant oversight.
Let me first begin by stating that as a Business Owner, I myself HAVE in fact used this bargaining technique in offering my very own services and programs, not realizing its un-intended adverse impact.
In fact, reducing the initial offer, is quite common across the small business sector footprint since many see this as a form of negotiation-tactics that show the willingness to be competitive, or does it?
This is what I too, used to believe, until one day I casually overheard a customer’s perspective on this, who happened to mention how a competitor of ours, offered him a franchise opportunity and promptly lowered their prices as a secondary recourse when he didn’t initially accept. This apparently sent up all types of red flags to him, as a potential customer. Having once been guilty of the same act, I recall swallowing intently and raising my eyebrows, as I took mental notes.
He went on to describe in greater detail, how this experience forever tainted the image of the company in question. It also helped me to inadvertently reconsider my approach on this same topic.
With that said, I’ve since researched, tested and polled the perspectives' of ideal clients and below is the synopsis of my study.

5 Reasons why BUSINESS OWNERS shouldn’t lower their prices after they’ve made an initial offer
1.)   Cheapens the value of your offer- Quickly reducing your price, immediately after the fact and without customer inquiry, rebuttal or counter-proposal, makes the customer believe your offer was never worth the original value to begin with.
2.)   Appears desperate for sales- Your customers can smell desperation a mile away and it’s not a very favorable outlook for your business. No one trusts desperation, since desperate people do desperate things.
3.)   Negotiable Value- Despite the fact that the worth can be negotiated, the value should never be questioned. Value should always stand, even when the worth is in question. We teach our GrowGetters that Value is derived by the owner while worth is determined by the consumer. Value vs. worth.
4.)   Scrutinizes the integrity of your pricing criteria- Your customers want to feel as if some sense of scientific data or reasoning went into carving out the prices presented. (I.e. Time, materials, experience, etc.) Despite the fact that they aren’t as picky on what metrics were used, there is a subtle-solace in knowing there was a process used to determine pricing. The moment you change the price on the spot, you immediately de-edify your pricing criteria, creating additional lingering scrutiny around everything else. Perception is reality and how you do anything, is how you do everything.
5.)   Reputational damage- When prices, policies and processes are subject to change (without merit), on the drop of a dime, they become volatile, unrestricted and  unregulated, lending itself to errors, risks, losses and mixed messages that cause reputational damage. Reputational damage can occur when the customer feels that he/she would have  been willing to pay the original asking price, yet realizes that someone else, who perhaps wasn’t willing to pay original price, would have been offered a reduced rate, while they were charged the originally set price. This creates a“rip-off” aspect creating distrust. Reputational damage can almost be irrecoverable.
In Business, you've work too hard to inadvertently fall victim to these setbacks when trying to “help” your customer afford your products or services therefore it’s important that we approach our offers from a broad based perspective. Ultimately, the owner states the value, while your customers must recognize the worth for themselves. You can’t force the worth therefore, stand by your value!

Dawn Nicole - What is GrowGetter?

Being a GrowGetter is about having the business insights to recognize the invisible, for it wouldn’t be strategy if it
were obvious.
It’s about seeing hidden opportunity in every scenario so that peak potential may be maximized.
It’s
about cracking codes and understanding how to get the most value out of every scenario while only investing
time into what matters now.
However, before we can dissect the advantages of using strategy, including its definition and many
benefits, we must first shed light on the contrary and the legitimate reason why more people don’t
realize they’re missing out.
In life, many people rely heavily on basic instincts to transition them thru situational problem-solving.
Logic, practicalities and simple mathematics that explain a cause and effect. In fact, intuitiveness tells us,
to place one foot, in front of the other or to expect that ONE seed will produce ONE tree.
A reaction to
every action. Therefore, it’s no wonder most people expect one plus one to equal two; it’s the world as
we know it.
However, what if there were an invisible force of effort that could not only steer the ball in your favor, yet introduce you to more opportunities by helping you realize the peak potential in every resource and
relationship?
Welcome to GrowGetter!

5 REASONS WHY BUSINESS OWNERS SHOULD NEVER BE BROKE

Last week during one of our program introductory meet and greets, a photographer who was only there to capture the moment, blurted out..."Sign me up for your program Dawn Nicole!" The room laughed with astonishment before moving on to my next point.

However, before I could proceed, he continued... "I'm serious, I need help in my business. To be honest, I'd like to hear my phone ringing off the hook, but it's not. My work is hit or miss and I'm afraid to say it, but I think photography is seasonal."

Wrong Answer! I quickly shifted that thinking and openly advised him that without seeing his strategic business plan, I could assure that his pricing was not appropriately set up for sustainable growth.

Let me first start by saying, I will not pretend that I've always been this "awake" in business. In fact, I know what broke feels like. It's Paycheck to paycheck, living on a shoe-string budget, counting every penny and robbing Peter to Paul, and that's the high-end of broke.

Actually Market Watch published a post back in January 2016, which stated how most Americans live this way, week in and week out. Paycheck to Paycheck. Let's agree, there's nothing fun about being broke.

However, here's what I know, back then when I was admittedly broke, it was largely because I had a Broke(n) Mentality, a broken system and broken spirits, all without knowing it. Ouch! That actually stings to write, yet the reality is, I was not alone. Tons of Americans wake-up daily with a broke mentality without ever realizing it.  "So, what is a BROKE Mentality?" You might ask.

I describe this as a subconscious reliance and dependency on a false sense of security. (English Please) A Broke Mentality, as a Business Owner, is the failure to see and exercise PEAK POTENTIAL in what you have, that has ability to grow your business leaps and bounds ahead.

It's the false thinking that your ability to generate income is somehow one-dimensional or tied-to a single primary external factor, rather than seeing the GOD-GIVEN Natural resources in your VALUE PROPOSITION.

As well as, an understanding that your Financial Elevator can go as high as you believe, which is both good or bad, depending on what you believe.

As a National Business Growth Expert, I travel the country empowering Entrepreneurs on how to become the Chief Architects of their own vision in order to Grow their Businesses from Possibility to Profitability. And while today, I have a thriving practice in Charlotte, NC., with a lofty vision of where my company, GrowGetter, is headed, I remember not that long ago feeling completely powerless regarding my ability to produce income as a new Business Owner.  In my new book, Grow for It, I describe the challenging transition I experienced growing from the corporate sector onto the fulltime entrepreneurial sector. I describe some of my BIGGEST MISTAKES in how I was hungry trying to REPLACE the six figure salary so badly, that I treated every new prospect like a dollar sign rather than a budding relationship and as a result, almost crashed and burned my new business before it ever took off.

I also discuss my initial response when an entrepreneurial colleague advised me to build my own intellectual property. I recall laughing and thinking..."what the heck would I have to offer?" Boy was I wrong. Who knew that would become the basis of why I will never be broke again. And now, I work with Entrepreneurs across the nation to expose them to "PEAK POTENTIAL THINKING" when it comes to their product offerings, including how to Think Like A GrowGetter, so that they too, can learn how to maximize every opportunity.

There are 5 FUNDAMENTAL Reasons why BUSINESS OWNERS should NEVER Be Broke. I will share all 5 at my upcoming workshop on:

Being in business is too expensive for you to be a ‘serial-networker' w/no results.

As a Business Growth Expert, I happen to know that most businesses are built on relationships. With that said, networking is a critical factor in that equation and can become a rather costly expense if you aren’t properly gaining from the experience. Therefore, in order to receive your RETURN on INVESTMENT, there are a few SIMPLE yet HIGHLY EFFECTIVE strategies that will make your life easier and put money back into your pocket. Before I offer-up these ‘GAME-CHANGING’ GROWGETTER networking MUST-HAVES, let’s agree on a few pain points.

If you’re like most entrepreneurs, you’re swamped running from event to event, with no real time to build and develop the connections. You also likely enjoy the socializing and foodie elements that come with a swank soiree, yet detest the dreaded “follow-up!” Not because you aren’t friendly or don’t mean well, but because it takes up precious time.

And, while most businesses are exploring automated solutions to this challenge, the reality is, automation only works when you know who you are targeting and what message you’ll need to convey to each. In other words, there is still a degree of BRAIN-POWER required in order to engineer said automation; assuming you’re using an automated solution.

In either case, join me, the Chief GrowGetter on tomorrow, Wed, August 10, 2016 as I provide a few easy to use networking strategies to help this process go a little smoother and a lot faster.

Being in Business is too expensive for you to be a ‘social-hour-loving-serial networker!’ If this stepped on your TOES then don’t fret, instead you MUST meet me at tomorrow's Businesses for Strategy’ Meet-up Group FREE kick-off,’ where we’ll help you serial networkers break-thru the blind spots with our HIGH impact, MINIMAL effort networking strategies!

5 simple considerations to include when developing your Business Strategic Plan

As a Business Growth Expert Strategist, I show entrepreneurs how to use strategy to grow their businesses; empowering them to be the architects of their own success. And, when owners are running 100 miles per hour yet growing no-where fast, it affirmatively tells me there’s a lack of effective strategy in place for the business in question.

Although our firm creates strategic plans for many Business Owners, we also empower others to develop their own strategic plans.  When doing so, below are 5 simple considerations to include, in order to craft a masterful strategic plan.

5 simple considerations to include when developing your Business Strategic Plan

1. Determine the business focus category the strategy will fall under. (I.e. Financial, Marketing, Technology, Regulatory, Management of People or Process, Products/Services, etc.)
2. Secondly, identify the desired objective of the strategy. What are you hoping to accomplish thru this strategy, including what's the driving force? (I.e. Will this be a pro-active strategy or reactionary/remediation strategy?)
3. Next, if the strategy’s objective is accomplished, what will it mean for the business?  What’s the expected result? This should be clearly defined next to each strategy.
4. Lastly, what’s the definition of done? How will the completion of this strategy be defined, or will this be an ongoing strategy?
5. Most importantly, consider how you’ll measure the effectiveness of the strategies in place.  Key Performance Indicators, known as (KPIs), evaluate the success of a particular activity in which it engages.

Note: In order to measure a strategy’s success, you’ll need KPIs, as outlined in my example. (I.e. My business’s networking strategy will be considered effective when I’m able to attend 6 events per month, quickly identify key people vs. common connections, follow-up in 24 hours with Key people, land critical initial meetings with a minimum of 80% of those Key people within 7 days of networking event. )

The considerations listed above, are 5 MUST HAVES to include. Include meaning, adding to other components needed for building out your strategic plan; when crafting on your own.

However, for deeper  advisement of how to develop a full end to end strategic plan, please contact us at Ready Set Grow!

“I’m doing everything right in my business and are still not seeing the results I expected!”

“I’m doing everything right in my business and are still not seeing the results I expected!”

If this sounds familiar, it is because it’s a very common complaint from many business owners who are burnt-out on tactics that aren’t yielding expedient results. Therefore, if a business’s lack of success is not due to a lack of effort, then what’s the real cause for stalled growth, one might ask.

As a Business Growth Expert Strategist, I show entrepreneurs how to use strategy to grow their businesses; empowering them to be the architects of their own success. Listening to a complaint, such as the one above, affirmatively tells me there’s a lack of effective strategy in place for the business in question.

The absence of strategy in business, leads to unpredictable and stalled growth that doesn’t allow one to maximize moments that matter because they are “blinded” to the peak potential in every opportunity.

Owners without strategy are operating in ‘One-Dimensional Vision’ that only affords them a near sighted view (seeing what’s right in front of them), rather than seeing their business thru Strategic Vision ™, removing the blinders and turning on a different switch which allows them to take advantage of opportunities they previously had no idea existed.

I travel across the country speaking on this very topic via my signature talk, "Think Like a GrowGetter, a Strategic Mindset to Success!"
I believe, you miss 100% of the shots you don’t take, but what happens when you don’t take them because you have no idea they are there?

Strategic Vision ™ empowers owners to remove such blinders by exposing them to peak potential all around them, so that they can take those previously invisible shots with increased chance, of making each one!

However, most Business Owners aren’t aware that lack of strategy is the source of their growing pains, or lack thereof. You’ll likely never hear an owner openly admit… “I know what my problem is, I need a strategic plan.” Unfortunately for those in my field, owners usually aren’t this prescriptive and instead, the frustration from their lack of strategy, is indirectly expressed thru its consequential side-effects. “I’m doing everything right in my business and are still not seeing the results I expected!”  Or, “I know what I want, I’m just not sure how to get it done.”

Strategy, while invisible to the naked eye, produces results that are publicly quite evident; and in my practice, our strategies are created to cause accelerated growth, deploying one action that yields multiple results.

Strategies can be applied to all aspects of business operations, from a Business’s Grand Launch, New Product Release, Niche Markets, Sales Funnels, Fundraising and many more. The strategies crafted for various aspects of business, should be delivered thru a plan (strategic plan) so that an order of steps are clearly outlined for an owner. Read my other blog here, around strategic plan considerations.

If you or someone you know is doing everything right, yet are continuing to struggle with business growth, chances are they’re not exercising Strategic Vision ™. This cannot be done alone, because we don’t know, what we don’t know.

Therefore, what would it mean to a Business Owner if:
  • They could experience high impact results using minimal efforts?
  • They saved time by focusing on what matters right now, rather than spinning your wheels and growing no were fast?
  • They could take one action that yielded multiple results, moving faster enabling accelerated growth?
  • They could take advantage of the peak potential in every opportunity, by removing the blinders?
It would equal the following…
  • Increased cash flow within just 90 days or less
  • Improved customer retention using immediate tactics
  • Completion of goals up to three times faster

Can Too Much Customization Dilute Your Brand?

I can’t answer this question without first expounding further upon what it means to be a brand.
Since a brand is a name, term, design, symbol or other feature that distinguishes one seller's product from those of others, what dictates the need for customization and at what point does it dilute your brand?
That’s the million dollar question, I used to ask myself back in my prestigious consulting days where we’d be professionally polished for ‘Wall Street’ even on Fridays. We'd have meetings about meetings, practice our board-room ‘play’, anticipate client questions beforehand and rehearse our engagement style; only to be later reduced to providing what the client wanted in the manner that they dictated.
“But, what about our brand?” I thought to myself. What about us being the experts who had the proven use-cases, artifacts, prototypes and methodology to deploy a successful project?”
I recall adamantly questioning why it seemed no matter what we’d set out to do, we always seemed to falter back to what the client wanted, lacking creativity and posture.
At the time, I was advised that consulting (an intangible service that I was relatively new to) was a client-driven business where the customer always wins. As a new team-member, I didn’t necessarily agree with that logic, yet thought it best that I adhere to the practices that my leaders instilled.
However, it wasn’t very long before I was serving up my own ideas and industry expertise as a viable part of our team’s solution strategy.
You see, I had a firm belief that while there was a small-bit of truth to the notion of consulting being a client-driven  industry, establishing oneself as a brand wasmore important to the growth of one’s business, than not.
Being an industry brand leader was about taking a stance. It’s about declaringthe way by which you'll choose to deliver a solution with excellence. While your client’s needs may vary, your solution shouldn’t waiver so far from its original appeal that it becomes unrecognizable to the eye, diluted.
Consulting, by definition, means to seek out professional expert advice. This means you are the expert for a reason; hopefully because you’ve mastered the domain you’re in after solution[ing] multiple cases of the problem you solve.
And, while some customization is essential for sustaining in a volatile market-place because it shows that you are paying attention to customer trends and demands, it should be done within the confines of your unique brand.
Take Lays Brand Potato Chips, for example, who makes it a point to consider the customer by running a promo-campaign each year, where they allow fans to name their own flavors.
The winning flavors are packaged and produced under the Lays Brand and distributed accordingly. Throughout this process, Lays continues to sell their own brand flavors, making customization a unique option under its brand that’s managed and contained thru a promotional campaign so that it’s not the dominating driver of their success.
Believe it or not, their original flavors are still top selling because the market appreciates, recognizes and trusts its authentic brand!
If your customization becomes the dominating driver, then you’ve lost the uniqueness that makes you a brand.
In conclusion, you can't please everybody and not every dollar, is your dollar. Consider how much customization you’ll implement before relenting your brand appeal!
Business Growth Expert, Professional Speaker and Published Author, Dawn Nicole has just released new best-selling business book, "Grow for it," which reveals more about her philosophy.
